‎”Their redness talks to my wound, it corresponds.
They are subtle: they seem to float, though they weigh me down
Upsetting me with their sudden tongues and their color,
A dozen red lead sinkers round my neck.”

This is how I see depression. This is how I see my disease. A brightness that interrupts my calm, a blinding light that makes me sick with it’s whiteness, just as Plath’s gifted tulips made her sick with distress in that hospital bed. This tattoo is a testament to my commitment to treatment, and my promise to myself to get better. It was done by Jamie Scott (@bigdonpaint on Tumblr) at Body Art Tattoo in Plattsburgh, NY, so if you’re ever in North East NY and in need of some ink, the only place to head is Body Art. And if you’re looking to get pierced, check out Carly (@Carlovely on Tumblr) at Body Art. She did my lip a few years ago when I still had it.

So yeah. Needless to say I am in love with my leg for a while.
